J.Philpott Effects History
J.Philpott has been making effects boxes for several years and started making custom pedals for friends around the USA late in 1997 under the small business, "Justin Philpott Effects." Due to the incredible response and the appreciation by guitarists for a great, affordable, unique-sounding effects pedal, business has expanded.
In 1998, J.Philpott Effects introduced the Limited Edition Tych Octave. Reviewed at Harmony-Central by several customers as one of, if not the most, high quality and accurate tonal replications of the famous, yet scarce, vintage Tychobrahe Octavia.
1999 has brought the first original J.Philpott Effects design in the pedal called XYLO. The XYLO was very well-received by customers, and may return for future production runs. [Please contact J.Philpott if you have interest in the XYLO!].
During 2001 and 2002, the second edition of the Tych Octave (naturally named Tych Octave 2) was issued. This version comprised the same high-quality, handmade circuit as its predecessor except with the addition of both silent True Bypass switching and LED on/off status indication. Aesthetic differences can also be seen between the Tych Octave 1 and 2, shown by clicking the "Current FX" menu bar.
In case it is not yet clear, J.Philpott Effects is NOT a "mass-producing" company. Our hand-made products are of the highest-quality for tone and durability. We also do not deal with any middlemen/dealers, opting to sell our products in a direct-to-customer manner, even if this means selling smaller quantities. By working directly with the customer our business method results in much lower costs for our customers (typical dealer markup fees are eliminated) and we also are able to provide superior customer service, all along with what many previous customers and we feel is a superior product. At J.Philpott Effects we operate with 100% customer satisfaction in mind.
Currently, many other pedal designs, comprising both vintage and modern circuit concepts, are being considered for the next line of effects pedals.
The future should bring many new toys for guitarists of all ages, so stay tuned!
